Can you recommend some basic vehicle maintenance guidelines?

Sure! More vehicle problems are caused by failure to perform routine maintenance than for any other reason. A little time and money spent on regular maintenance can save you LOTS of time and money in the long run for unexpected or major repairs for your vehicle.

For the best results, follow these simple guidelines:
    1) Check your oil every time you refuel.

    2) Change the oil and filter every 3,000 miles or 90 days.

    3) Change the transmission fluid and filter every 18,000 miles or once a year.

    4) Flush your radiator and refill with a 50/50 mixture of coolant/water every 18,000 miles or once a year.

    5) Keep your tires properly inflated and replace worn tires without delay. Rotate your tires every 6,000 miles or twice a year.

    6) If any dash warning lights come on or you hear an unusual noise that isn't common with everyday use, contact Goodyear Tire & Gemini automative Service Center at (608) 254-2484 as soon as possible.

    7) Watch the ground where you park your vehicle. If a spot forms on the ground under your vehicle, something may be leaking. All fluid leaks should be investigated as soon as possible.

    8) If the oil pressure or temperature light comes on while you are driving, pull over and turn off the engine immediately.

Overall, just take pride in your vehicle and service it regularly. Doing these maintenance basics will increase your trade-in value at the end of your contract.

Can you give me some do's and dont's when it comes to my vehicle?

Well for starters, engines overheat for many reasons including, but not limited to, a broken radiator hose, a malfunctioning thermostat or oil sending unit or running the air conditioner for extended periods of time when the car is not moving. Al of this can be expensive to fix. If you choose to drive with an overheated engine, expect the fix to be expensive as often times the entire engine must be replaced.

DO NOT allow unqualified people to work on your vehicle.

Do not let others drive your vehicle. Friends borrow vehicles all the time, but after taking it through a ditch or hitting a curb, it's hard to tell the owner. Damage may be caused that is not outwardly apparent, but it may eventually surface in a costly repair.

DO always remember to pull over and turn off the vehicle if any indicators point to overheating.
